GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Officials released the name of the armed woman who was fatally shot by Green Bay police gunfire during a welfare check last month.
State investigators say Hunter Posey, 27, brandished a firearm upon law enforcement’s arrival at a residence on Boland Road, Aug. 21.
Three Green Bay police officers discharged their firearms:
- Noah Heuvelmans, 7 years and 3 months of service
- Colton Moore, 4 years and 9 months of service
- Grace Bessey, 3 years and 9 months of service
Posey was struck by law enforcement gunfire.
EMS was contacted and life saving measures were immediately rendered on Posey by law enforcement on scene. Posey was transported to a local hospital where she was later pronounced deceased. No members of law enforcement or other members of the public were injured during this incident.
The involved law enforcement officers were wearing body-worn cameras during the incident, and remain on administrative leave, per the agency’s policy.
DCI is leading this investigation and is assisted by a DCI Crime Response Specialist and Wisconsin State Patrol.
Involved law enforcement is fully cooperating with DCI during this investigation. DCI is continuing to review evidence and determine the facts of this incident and will turn over the investigative reports to the Brown County District Attorney’s office when the investigation concludes.
