BELLEVUE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A change to the traffic pattern at a popular Bellevue intersection will go back to its original configuration, but just temporarily.
The village board voted last week to reopen the median at Landmark Boulevard and Costco Way while concrete replacement is happening on a nearby portion of Monroe Road/County Road GV.
The concrete barriers restricting left-hand turns near Costco, were put in place earlier this year to reduce crashes at the intersection of Landmark Boulevard at Costco Way.
Those barriers are set to be removed Tuesday at 4 a.m., reopening the median to traffic.
Since the concrete barriers were put in place, officials found restricting left-hand turns did make the intersection safer, however it created traffic congestion issues.
The intersection will remain open for about eight weeks before construction begins on its permanent solution to install what is called a “porkchop configuration” that will allow drivers to turn left from eastbound Landmark Boulevard onto Costco Way.
