GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Animal boarding facilities, kennels and shelters will soon have more options for where they can operate after the city council passed an ordinance amendment expanding allowable locations.
Previously, those facilities were limited to a few commercial and industrial zones. Under the amendment approved tonight, they can also operate in downtown districts, office-residential districts and neighborhood center districts.
The city said the change was not made in response to a single organization.
The owner of Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary had previously said the organization was not in compliance at its previous location and raised concerns about where it could locate in the future after learning about the limited zoning options.
