(WNFL) – The Milwaukee Brewers’ 3-game home series against the Colorado Rockies got off to a rugged start Friday afternoon as the Brewers dropped a 5-2 decision to Colorado at American Family Field in Milwaukee.
The Rockies took a 2-0 lead in the first inning off of starting pitcher Shane Drohan with a run-scoring double by Cole Carrigg and a run-scoring single by Hunter Goodman.
Christian Yelich hit a home run in the Brewers’ half of the first inning to cut the deficit to 2-1.
Kyle Karros made it 3-1 with a run-scoring single in the third for Colorado with Mickey Moniak’s sacrifice fly adding another run for the Rockies in the fourth.
Brice Turang homered for the Brewers in the sixth inning with Colorado’s TJ Rumfield hitting an RBI double in the seventh to make it 5-2.
Drohan pitched into the seventh inning for the Brewers, allowing 5 runs on 6 hits. His record falls to 5-4.
Tomoyuki Sugano got the win for Colorado to improve to 10-4 with Jordan Romano getting his eighth save for the Rockies.
The 2 teams meet again Saturday at American Family Field for the second game of the series.
Robert Gasser who is 2-4 with a 4.91 ERA will start for Milwaukee.
Colorado will counter with Ryan Feltner who is 3-4 with a 5.48 ERA.
