(WTAQ-WLUK) — New data from safety research group ‘SafeWise’ combined the Town of Lawrence and Village of Hobart as one area, ranking them together as the safest city in Wisconsin.
The group came to this conclusion based on FBI crime statistics, normalized per 1,000 residents and supplemented that information from the group’s proprietary ‘State of Safety’ study.
According to the data, Hobart-Lawrence has 0.4 violent crimes per 1,000 residents. It also has 2.3 property crimes per 1,000 residents.
Comparing the data statewide, Wisconsin has 4 violent crimes per 1,000 residents and 16.34 property crimes per 1,000 residents. Wisconsin is roughly in line with the national average for violent crimes according to the data. Wisconsin has roughly 6 fewer property crimes per 1,000 residents compared to the national average. However, 16.34 property crimes is up from 14.4 property crimes in SafeWise’s 2024 report.
Hobart-Lawrence is the only Northeast Wisconsin city to be on the list.
