GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Former Green Bay radio DJ Daniel Lieburn pleaded not guilty Monday to child pornography and drug charges.
Lieburn, 40, whose on-air name on 95.9 KISS-FM was Dan Brown, faces one felony count of possession of child pornography and six misdemeanor drug counts. No trial date was set. He returns to court June 29 for a status hearing.
Lieburn’s attorney argued for the $50,000 cash bond to be reduced to $10,000 cash. Judge Thomas Walsh lowered it to $40,000, noting it is still a high amount.
According to the criminal complaint, police received an online tip last May of a video of child sexual abuse material being shared from a Snapchat account. Investigators tied the account to Lieburn and served a search warrant at his parents’ home in Howard, where he lives.
Authorities took his cellphone, which had the Snapchat account tied to the child sexual abuse material. Lieburn admitted having seen and sent the video.
“I have been addicted to young, teenage boys since I was about 17 years of age,” he said in a statement, according to the criminal complaint. “I am sorry for what I have done. I believe I need some mental health help for my problem.”
Lieburn also faces a theft in a business setting charge for allegedly stealing nearly $14,000 from the U.S. Junior Curling Association. A June 11 preliminary hearing is scheduled in that case.
The criminal complaint alleges Lieburn controlled the curling nonprofit’s Square account and failed to transfer all proceeds from camps, clinics and merchandise sales into the organization’s bank account between 2021 and 2024.
Investigators said Lieburn embezzled $10,441.25 from the Square account through ATM withdrawals and another $3,156.28 through other purchases. A Square debit card tied to the account was allegedly used for 215 transactions totaling more than $13,500, including ATM withdrawals, gas station purchases and other personal expenses.
Authorities also alleged 40 ATM withdrawals totaling $5,477.25 were made at XS Nightclub, where Lieburn worked as a manager. He is no longer employed there either.
