PC: Two Rivers Utilities
TWO RIVERS, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Service has been fully restored for most Two Rivers residents after strong thunderstorms knocked out power Sunday.
Two Rivers Utilities reports as of 6:20 a.m. Monday, there may be a few properties left without power.
At the peak of Sunday’s storm, more than 3,500 electric utility accounts were without power, impacting nearly half of the community.
Hundreds of trees were damaged or downed throughout the city, creating hazardous conditions in neighborhoods, parks, cemeteries, and along public roadways.
The storm caused severe damage across several city parks and cemetery properties, with extensive tree loss, debris fields, and structural impacts. Multiple streets became impassable as downed trees and power lines blocked roadways and created dangerous conditions for both residents and emergency crews.
The National Weather Service was out surveying damage Monday and concluded the damage is from straight line winds, not a tornado.
Due to the ongoing power outage, LB Clarke Middle School will be closed. Two Rivers High School, Koenig and Magee will have classes Monday.
Kaukauna, Menasha, Waupun and New London Utilities all sent crews to help with restoration efforts.
