ONEIDA RESERVATION (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Oneida Nation has extended its Public Health State of Emergency and Safer at Home declarations.
The last remaining Brown County government with a “Safer at Home” order has extended it to Aug. 11.
The decision, which was made Wednesday by the Oneida Business Committee, comes as a result of a spike in active COVID-19 cases, according to a news release.
The declarations were originally scheduled to end July 12.
The committee says its committed to keeping the reservation community safe by encouraging people to keep controls in place.
Operations and businesses have reopened with approved safety plans in place. The plans include frequent sanitation of common surfaces, employee and client temperature checks and enforcing social distancing as much as possible, according to the release.
The Oneida Nation confirms 50 total COVID-19 cases as of Wednesday. One person remains in isolation, and two people have died from the virus.
