APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Two months after construction closed a section of College Avenue (WIS 25) in the town of Grand Chute, the project has wrapped up — just in time for several inches of snow.
The road opened early Tuesday, marking the completion of a $3.8 million project that began Aug. 28 and finished on schedule and on budget.
Officials from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region said that over the next several days, crews will be working to remove traffic control devices and detour signage.
Improvements within the project included:
- Structure replacement on WIS 125 over Mud Creek, east of the I-41 northbound ramps
- Replacement of the existing box culvert
- Pavement
- Curb and gutter
- Storm sewer
- Beam guard
According to WisDOT, the project will ensure adequate drainage needs are met, reduce future maintenance costs and save taxpayer dollars in the future.
