GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Motorcyclists are invited to join the 14th annual Suicide Prevention Ride on Sunday, August 27.
Registration for the event will be from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. at Terry’s Wall Street Pub at 3361 Main Street, Green Bay.
The ride starts at 12 p.m. Stops will include Off the Hook Bar and Grill (Algoma) before ending at 21 Gun Roadhouse at 4344 Lime Kiln Road, Green Bay.
The public is invited to join the festivities at 21 Gun Roadhouse for raffles and live music from 4-8 p.m. Riders will return at approximately 5 p.m. to enjoy live music by 18 Days.
Proceeds from the event benefit Family Services’ Crisis Center to support suicide prevention.
Last year, the center answered over 19,300 crisis calls and provided over 4,500 face-to-face crisis counseling sessions for individuals in Brown County.
Event organizers hope the ride will raise awareness of the services available to those who are struggling and reduce the stigma of talking about mental health and suicide.
“I’ve had too many people in my life that have passed away from suicide,” said ride coordinator Jeanne Parrett. “I’m here to let people know that there’s help out there, and it’s not shameful to ask for help.”
The Crisis Center of Family Services provides services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to people in Brown County. Services are available anywhere in the country by phone at 920-436-8888, or in person at 3150 Gershwin Drive Green Bay WI 54311.
The cost to register for the ride is $20 per bike or $25 with two riders. Cars and other vehicles are encouraged to join as well. For more information about the event, call (920) 883-9196.
