GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A homeless shelter in Green Bay has received more than $77,000 as part of grant awards from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), money dedicated to helping non-profit organizations.
Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach and Brown County Health and Human Services (HHS) Executive Director Jeremy Kal presented House of Hope the $77,503 check on Thursday.
“We are so grateful to the county for the ARPA funds they’ve granted us,” said Shannon Weinandt, executive director for House of Hope. “It will make a huge impact on homeless youth and families experiencing homelessness in our area. The ARPA funds that House of Hope has received will do so much good for our community.”
Weinandt said this money will go towards security upgrades at House of Hope, providing local families with financial assistance for rent and utilities, and expanding Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse (AODA) counseling services and programs in the community.
“This will be an amazing asset to Brown County residents. We really would not have been able to do this without support from ARPA funds and Brown County,” Weinandt said.
