GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Applications are being accepted for this fall’s Citizens Police Academy, which will give participants the opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at the Green Bay Police Department.
Participants will learn about the department’s specialty divisions, including the Marine Unit, Dive Team, K9, and SWAT. They will also have the chance to meet with law enforcement officers and the forensic team, as well as take part in hands-on skills training and demonstrations, such as lifting fingerprints.
This year’s Citizens Police Academy will be held at Green Bay City Hall on Wednesday nights from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., running from Aug. 30 to Oct. 18.
It is open to residents from Brown County and surrounding areas, although priority registration will be given to applicants from Brown County and first-time attendees. Class size will be capped at 30 students.
To apply for a spot in the fall 2023 Citizens Police Academy, applicants may do one of the following:

A criminal background check will be run on each applicant. Anyone with a felony arrest record will not be eligible to attend. Applicants under the age of 18 will need the signature of a parent or guardian in order to participate.
Completed forms must be submitted by Friday, Aug, 25. Forms can be mailed or dropped off at the Green Bay Police Department (307 S. Adams Street, Green Bay, WI 54301) or emailed to Crime Prevention.
