FOND DU LAC COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A man out on parole for drug charges was arrested in Fond du Lac County last week after deputies found crack cocaine, cocaine powder and marijuana in his vehicle, according to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.
A deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling northbound on Highway 151 near Townline Road in Fond du Lac shortly after 6:15 p.m. Friday. While the traffic stop was related to a moving violation, the deputy also noted that the driver was linked to suspected drug trafficking and was on parole for original charges of possession with intent to deliver cocaine.
A K9 officer was called in and positively identified illegal drugs coming from the vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office.
After authorities found a variety of illegal drugs, the driver, a 58-year-old man from Waupun, was arrested.
While being interviewed, the man provided information related to drug activity at a home in Waupun, according to the sheriff’s office. Investigators with the Lake Winnebago Area Metropolitan Enforcement Group drug task force were contacted and assisted Fond du Lac deputies as well as officers from the Waupun Police Department in searching the home.
Between the traffic stop and the probation-related home search, law enforcement says they found roughly 20 grams of suspected crack cocaine, six grams of powder cocaine, 528 grams of THC and $2,000 of suspected drug proceeds. Officials say that most of the seized drugs were individually packaged in smaller quantities, “clearly possessed with the intention of further distributing them.”
The man is being held at the Fond du Lac County Jail on new charges of maintaining a drug trafficking place, possession with intent to deliver THC, possession with intent to deliver cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
