FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — People came together in Fond du Lac Thursday to reopen a lighthouse that had undergone some renovations.
A ribbon-cutting was held to celebrate the completion of Lighthouse Drive and also open a new boardwalk at Lakeside Park West.
The lighthouse is 90 years old and the renovations are expected to extend the life of it.
Attendees also got to enjoy the nice weather by the lake and a tour of the lighthouse.
“This is really important for a couple of reasons. One we have a historic building here, our lighthouse. Number two, it’s the symbol of the city, it’s on our city seal, you see it on vehicles, you see it represented in a lot of art and photography that is associated with Fond du Lac,” city manager Joe Moore said.
The renovations cost $800,000.
