FISH CREEK, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A Door County YMCA center will have a new name.
The Northern Door Center in Fish Creek will officially be called the Jackie and Steve Kane Center or the Kane Center.
The new name honors the couple’s $2.5 million donation and their support over the years.
The organization unveiled new signs featuring the Kane name Wednesday.
“We will begin to refer to this center as the Jackie and Steve Kane Center or the Kane Center, which is really a wonderful thing so when people call, they’ll hear us say, ‘thank you for calling the Kane Center, how can we help you?’ so that will be a little bit different for our members but I think everyone will embrace it pretty quickly and will certainly understand why we’re doing it,” said Door County YMCA CEO, Tonya Felhofer.
The Door County YMCA serves more than 9,600 people out of a 22,000 population.
