WINNEBAGO COUNTY (WTAQ-WLUK) — With the sturgeon spearing season wrapping up, local fisherman took advantage of clear skies Saturday to try and catch a fish. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources reports that Saturday’s Lake Winnebago harvest consisted of 29 fish. There were 3 juvenile females, 15 adult females, and 11 males. Pipe registration station continues to register the most fish, with 18 being registered Saturday.
Two fish measured in at over 100 lbs. Both were registered at the Pipe registration shack. Fisherman Alex Wilkens’ F2 female sturgeon weighed 101.6 lbs. and was 66.5 inches long.
Sunday is the last day for the 2023 Sturgeon Spearing Season for anyone who has not yet filled their harvest tag for Lake Winnebago
