WISCONSIN (WTAQ) — The Wisconsin State Patrol is taking part in the Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety Alliance’s Human Trafficking Awareness Initiative this week.
The Wisconsin State Patrol works with the Department of Justice to combat human trafficking. This week, truck drivers will be provided a resource card with information; and they’re encouraged to pay extra attention to human trafficking warning signs.
“Truck drivers are a good ear to the road for us to tap into,” said Andrew Jacobs, Sergeant with the Wisconsin State Patrol. “They do see a lot of this stuff at those 24-hour truck stops.”
He said that anybody who is a victim of human trafficking can call 1-888-373-7888, or you can text the word “help” to 233-733.
