Teenage Brothers Charged with Attempted Homicide for Green Bay Shooting

GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Two brothers, ages 18 and 16, are facing charges in connection with a non-fatal shooting Saturday in which a “ghost gun” was used.

18 year old Anthony C. Simbler is charged with attempted first degree intentional homicide as party to a crime and two counts of bail jumping. 16 year old Avion D. Simbler is charged with attempted first degree intentional homicide as party to a crime, bail jumping, and possession of narcotic drugs.

In Wisconsin, anyone between ages 10 and 16 charged with homicide counts are charged in adult court.

According to the criminal complaint, police responded to an apartment complex on Humboldt Road about 2 p.m. Saturday for a report of a shooting.

The Simblers allegedly attacked a 20-year-old man, with multiple shots being fired. The victim was shot once in the arm and once in the abdomen.

The shooting victim said his sister was having issues with her boyfriend, and he went there with the intention to fight, if needed.

Avion Simbler said he was with his brother but denied being on Humboldt Road.

Anthony Simbler admitted he and his brother went to Humboldt Road, but “when the shooting started he ran to his car. Anthony stated a short time later Avion knocked on the car window to be let into the car,” the complaint states.

Green Bay Lieutenant, Jeff Brester, said police were able to talk to the victim while he was at the hospital, and then found the two suspects a short time later.

“Within about 15-20 minutes, the suspect vehicle was located by officers in the general area,” said Brester “That was then pulled over and the two suspects were taken into custody.”

A gun was recovered at the scene.

“The firearm was a 9mm and is what is commonly referred to as a ‘ghost gun’ or ’80 percent’ gun. This is a firearm that does not have a serial number on it and is a homemade firearm,” the complaint states.

The brothers are being held on $500,000 cash bonds.
