LAKE WINNEBAGO, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Nearly three dozen sturgeon were speared on Day 13 of the 2022 season.
The state Department of Natural Resources says 35 sturgeon were harvested Thursday, 14 more than the previous day. The 35 fish consist of three juvenile females, 17 adult females and 15 males.
The Blackwolf registration station saw the most sturgeon registered Thursday. The next closest was Grundman Lane with 10.
The largest sturgeon speared on Day 13 was a 120.6-pound female. The largest fish speared this season remains a 174.3-pound female harvested on Day Six.
The 2022 sturgeon spearing season will wrap on Sunday.
