OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A judge Thursday rejected Grant Fuhrman’s bid to have a jury from outside Winnebago County hear the case against him for allegedly stabbing a police liaison officer at West High School.
Fuhrman, 18, is charged with one count of attempted first-degree intentional homicide for the Dec. 3, 2019 incident. Prosecutors say Officer Mike Wissink shot Fuhrman after Fuhrman stabbed him. Students and staff evacuated, and classes were canceled for two days.
It was the second time Judge Daniel Bissett has rejected a change of venue motion, court records show.
Also Thursday, court records show the judge granted a request by prosecutors to prohibit the defense from using an involuntary intoxication defense, where it would argue Fuhrman could not distinguish between right and wrong due to being intoxicated against their will.
A 10-day trial is scheduled to start May 31.
