TOWN OF MAPLE VALLEY, WI (WTAQ) – A pilot was killed when a plane crash in Oconto County Wednesday night.
Around 6:15, dispatchers received a call about a plane that appeared to be descending near Kelly Lake.
The United States Air Force and Federal Aviation Administration said they were in the process of tracking a fixed wing single engine beech plane. Two jets tracking the plane said it flew too low, causing them to lose sight of it.
Dispatchers were also notified that the pilot, the only person on board, was unresponsive.
Several agencies responded, with the FAA assisting in the search via helicopter. The plane was found between county roads G and K in the Town Of Maple Valley.
The Oconto County Sheriff’s Office, the FAA, Wisconsin State Patrol and Brown County Medical Examiner’s Office are investigating.
