OCONTO, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – While teachers and child care workers in Wisconsin will be eligible to receive the coronavirus vaccine beginning Monday, Oconto County’s public vaccination clinic will not offer the vaccine to those groups for another two weeks.
Oconto County Public Health blames a lack of supply for the delay. The health department says this past week, it received only one-third of the doses it requested from the state.
The health department’s public clinic will not begin vaccinating groups in the next phase until March 15 or at least 50% of county residents 65 and older have received one dose of vaccine, whichever date is later.
The county says it will announce when vaccinations will be available to the next groups on its website and Facebook page. Those looking for vaccines are asked not to call the health department.
While Oconto County Public Health will not be offering next phase vaccinations right away, other area providers may be. The county encourages citizens to check the list of other nearby vaccination clinics on its website.
