OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Oshkosh North High School is part of a new documentary.
Eight years ago, the school’s Communities Program embedded the National 9-11 Day of Service into the annual curriculum.
A Chicago film studio got wind of that.
Last year, it sent a film crew out with students as they took part in service projects.
Their 2025 work is highlighted in the film “9/11 Day.”
It examines how the country turned a defining tragedy into the largest annual day of service in America.
On Wednesday night, a screening for the film was held for Oshkosh North students and the community.
One of the teachers hoping students learn and make a difference.
“It’s really important to learn about the history, but I also think it’s very important to learn about what happened after that day and the unity and how the country came together,” said Rick Leib, Oshkosh North High School Communities Program teacher.
One of the communities teachers and two alumni represented Oshkosh at the film’s national premiere in New York City.
