CLEVELAND, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Lakeshore College in Manitowoc County just launched its new truck driving program.
Classes began on Monday, but another program gets started on Oct. 19.
The class is designed for students to gain the knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience needed to safely operate commercial vehicles and begin a rewarding career in the transportation industry.
Students will learn about vehicle operation, safety regulations, inspection procedures, and over-the-road driving skills.
This semester-long program can be completed eight weeks and offers an accelerated pathway to earning a CDL Class A license.
According to the American Trucking Associations, there’s roughly a current shortfall of approximately 82,000 drivers in 2026.
