(WNFL) – The big games this week in northeast Wisconsin start on Thursday with 3 games pitting Fox River Classic Conference teams against Fox Valley Association teams.
Bay Port which rolled over Middleton 56-15 will travel to Kimberly to take on the Papermakers.
Bay Port showed a 3-headed attack against Middleton with Bray Babich passing for 186 yards and rushing for 60, Ryan Timmerman rushing for 135 yards and Jackson Otradovec catching 5 passes for 105 yards.
Ryan Welch threw for 193 yards for Kimberly in their 27-12 loss to Sussex Hamilton. Maddux Hermus was limited to 60 yards rushing.
Appleton North which beat Mukwonago 10-7 will head up highway 41 to take on West De Pere. The Lightning come in with a formidable defense which limited Mukwonago to just 211 yards of offense.
With Andrew Greisen throwing for 385 yards on 26 completions and solid line play on both sides of the ball, West De Pere showed the ability to dominate a ball game.
On the other side of the Fox River, De Pere will play host to Fond du Lac.
De Pere’s Ryland Nowak completed 13-of-17 passes for 146 yards in the 47-0 win against Manitowoc. Liam Fieber rand for 67 yards and Max Goebel caught 9 passes for 102 yards.
Fond du Lac, meanwhile, got 231 yards passing and 147 yards rushing from Eli Michalkiewicz. Brady Schmidt ran for 146 yards and Guardian Harris caught 5 passes for 83 yards in the Cardinals’ 57-18 win over Hartford.
In another strong Thursday night contest which pits a Bay Conference team against a North Eastern Conference team, Fox Valley Lutheran which beat Kewaunee 42-0 will travel to Little Chute to take on the Mustangs who beat Xavier 42-0.
Braden Heiges threw for 226 yards and rushed for a team-high 90 yards in the Foxes’ win over Kewaunee. Jacoby Dobberstein who with his speed is a tough matchup for any cornerback caught 4 balls for 101 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Little Chute, in its win over Xavier, was led by Reece Joten with 112 yards rushing.
Friday night’s key games included Arrowhead at Neenah and Kaukauna at Notre Dame.
Perennial power Arrowhead will look to send Neenah off to an 0-2 start. Arrowhead is led by Nolan Hanson who threw for 181 yards and Jebari Craig who rushed for 156 yards in their season-opening win over 35-7 win over Marquette University.
Neenah will see if Arrowhead can slow down Ashton VanBeek who rushed for 297 yards, passed for 166 and accounted for 7 touchdowns. Dont’ forget about Matthias Charles. The senior receiver caught 6 balls for 95 yards against Notre Dame.
Kaukauna which cruised to a 41-0 win over West Allis Hale (?) is led by running back Muhammad Jobe who ran for 148 yards and 2 scores in the season opener. Quarterback Ryan Carrel passed for just 67 yards but added 43 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns.
Notre Dame, meanwhile, has a fairly simple recipe for success. Give the ball to Kingston Allen early and often and let him run behind the Tritons offensive line which opened consistently big holes for him to run through against Neenah. Allen had 458 yards rushing and 7 touchdowns on 38 carries.
