(WNFL) – The Reedsville Panthers’ run for a state title came to an end Tuesday morning as they dropped a WIAA Division 4 state tournament semifinal game 2-1 to Potosi/Cassville in 11 innings.
Reedsville which finishes its season with a 19-7 record which got its only run in the sixth inning on a 2-base error, a sacrifice and a run-scoring groundout.
Potosi/Cassville got a run in the first inning on a single by Damian Bauer, a walk and a single by Reid Weber.
The winning run came home in the 11th inning on a single by Ben Infield, a pair of ground outs, an intentional walk and an error.
Landon Maertz started for Reedsville and went 1 2/3 innings allowing 1 run on 2 hits and 3 walks. Lucas Lodel pitched the next 7 1/3 innings, shutting down Potosi/Cassville on 5 hits and 2 walks. He struck out 4. Jake Schwahn took the loss for Reedsville, pitching the final 1 2/3 innings, giving up an uneared run on 3 hits and 1 walk.
Kolton Vogelsberg pitched the first 7 innings for Potosi/Cassville. He allowed an unearned run on 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out 6. Reid Weber got the win with 4 innings of relief wor. He did not allow a hit and walked 2 while striking out 2.
