OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A firework going off was mistaken for a gunshot after a large fight broke out in an Oshkosh neighborhood.
Just before 10:30 p.m. Thursday, police received several reports of a large fight in the 800 block of John Ave. It was also reported to the police that a gunshot was heard.
Officers made contact with several individuals at the residence where the disturbance and reported gunshot were to have occurred. Officers maintained a presence in the area while the incident was investigated.
During the investigation, officers interviewed several individuals. It was learned later through an interview that what was believed to be a gunshot was actually a person lighting off a firework in the air. This was also confirmed independently from surveillance video.

No one was injured as a result of the incident. No arrests have been made at this time, and there is no threat to the public.
