GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Greater Green Bay YMCA is taking its mobile outreach efforts across Brown County with the launch of a new “Y on the Fly” van.
The goal is to bring safe, engaging and relationship-driven programming directly into neighborhoods countywide.
The van will act as a “Y without walls” and expand the YMCA’s mission beyond its facilities, removing barriers and ensuring more youth, families and individuals can experience the support, connection and opportunity YMCAs provide. Y on the Fly will deliver fun for all ages to parks, schools, community events and neighborhood gathering spaces, including things like games, crafts, books, physical activities and interactive experiences.
“At the YMCA, we are committed to strengthening our community by supporting youth development, healthy living and social responsibility,” said Kathleen McKee, chief youth enrichment officer at the Greater Green Bay YMCA, in a news release. “Y on the Fly allows us to extend that impact directly into neighborhoods, creating safe, positive spaces where individuals and families can connect, grow and thrive.”
By meeting people where they are, the program creates welcoming opportunities for engagement while fostering meaningful relationships between participants and trusted YMCA staff.
Y on the Fly also strengthens neighborhood connections and fosters a sense of belonging, helping build a more connected and resilient Brown County.
