(WNFL) – At the WIAA state tennis tournament, Notre Dame’s Alex Thomas advanced to today’s Division 1 singles semifinal with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Reid Hirn of Badger and a 6-3, 6-1 win over Ethan Hoffman of Hartford.
Thomas will face Kimberly’s Colin Meixl who moved into the semifinals with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Clark Meyers of Brookfield East and a 0-6, 6-3, 10-4 win over Grant Schaefer of Whitefish Bay.
Appleton West’s Truman Vogel lost in the quarterfinals to Andrey Semin of Brookfield Central 6-3, 7-5. Semin also ousted Appleton West’s Cale Vogel in the third round with a 6-2, 7-2 win.
Neenah’s Hunter Brown lost to David Klaas of Madison Memorial 7-5, 6-1 in the third round.
Notre Dame’s Augustine Luy lost in the third round to Middleton’s Alex Bo 6-2, 6-3
In Division 1 doubles, Kettle Moraine’s August Spence and Lew Stuckey defeated West De Pere’s Giovanni Zifferblatt and Brayden Hagenow 6-1, 6-3 in the third round after the West De Pere duo defeated Hartford’s Alex Hoffman and Jake Otto 3-6, 7-6 (5), 10-6 in the second round.
Neenah’s Brady Lawatsch and Luke Grassl lost in the second round, losing to Ethan Cannon and Christian Lethlean of Franklin 6-3, 2-6, 10-4.
In Division 1 singles, Xavier’s Kojo Norman defeated University Lake School’s Waytt Andrew 6-2, 3-6, 10-7 and Tegan Schott of Aquinas 4-6, 6-1, 10-6 to advance to the semifinals.
In Division 2 doubles, St. Mary Catholic’s Sean Osland and Aiden Tines lost to New Berlin West’s Aris Ziogas and JJ Borchardt 6-0, 6-2.
