OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The body of a missing Oshkosh man, last heard from in October, has been found.
Around 7:43 a.m. Tuesday, a deceased individual was discovered by county highway workers in a drainage area south of the on-ramp to southbound Highway 41 and W 9th Avenue.
Police say it appeared the person had been deceased for a long time.
No identification was found near or on the person but based on numerous identifying marks, police believe the deceased individual is 59-year-old Frederick Ellis.
Ellis was reported missing on Jan. 10. Family and friends told police they have not heard from Ellis since October of 2025. Family said he was homeless and they were concerned for his safety due to mental health issues.
An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
