GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A park near downtown Green Bay is showing off its new look.
Officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday to celebrate major improvements at Seymour Park, located at 330 S. Oakland Avenue.
The park now includes (or will soon include) the following features:
- New playground equipment
- Regional stormwater pond and swale system installed by the Department of Public Works to address flooding concerns
- Seymour Park Food Forest, a community garden
- Splash pad
- Basketball court
“This park has really come a long way. Some tremendous city investments as a result of federal programming,” said Green Bay Mayor Eric Genrich. “But I think most importantly, a lot of the really positive momentum that has started within this area has been initiated by the neighborhood itself… who have always seen a lot of value in this park and have really made it what it is today.”
Green Bay leaders say Seymour Park serves as a vital community hub for the city’s west side.
