GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — City officials are spotlighting nonprofits making a difference in the Green Bay community.
Mayor Eric Genrich awarded grants to four organizations during a ceremony Tuesday held at the Green Bay City Council chambers.
Federal funds distributed totaled $163,700.
- Encompass Early Education and Care: $50,000
- Legal Action of Wisconsin: $48,700
- Community Services Agency, Inc. (COMSA): $45,000
- Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Wisconsin: $20,000
Genrich explained why these four nonprofits were chosen and shared a bit about their work.
“We were able to distribute some federal funding to local agencies providing mental health services to our youth in the example of Big Brothers Big Sisters; to elder law assistance from a group like Legal Action of Wisconsin; COMSA providing really vital services to our immigrant and refugee population; and then Encompass, which is obviously one of our most prominent child care providers within the community,” Genrich said.
“Being able to support a few of our community organizations doing really important work within the community, we just wanted to highlight the fact that we are distributing this federal money, but more importantly, highlight the great entities that are doing the work so they get the attention they deserve,” Genrich added.
