In one recent survey, two Wisconsin locations showed up as top luxury weekend destinations.
CardRates.com says it polled 3,000 credit cardholders with “significant” points balances to come up with the list.
A Door County coastal getaway was ranked 43rd in the list of 130. According to the website:
Options include renting a luxury waterfront cottage. Enjoy activities like sailing, kayaking, and visiting lighthouses. Explore local art galleries and dine on fresh fish and cherry-based dishes, iconic to the area.
The top location in Wisconsin, and 12th overall, was Lake Geneva near the Illinois border.
Visitors can stay at a high-end resort in Lake Geneva, spend their days golfing, boating on the lake, or relaxing at a full-service spa. Other options include enjoying lakeside dining and exploring the historic mansions along the shore.
The most desired weekend getaway in the survey was a Maui beachfront resort stay in Hawaii. Respondents also mentioned wanting to take a trip to Alaska to view the northern lights and soaking in hot springs. Number three was a trip to go camping in California’s redwood forest.
