MENASHA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – One woman is dead following a single car crash at the intersection of Washington and River Streets in Menasha New Year’s eve morning.
Menasha police say an 85-year-old driver was heading northbound on the Washington Street Bridge around 8:40 am Sunday. After crossing the bridge the car left the roadway and struck the Sonoco Paper Mill, at 69 Washington Street, on the right side of the roadway.
Both the driver and an 84-year-old female passenger were transported to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Neenah with serious injuries. Officers say the front seat passenger was not conscious and received CPR at the scene, but later died of her injuries.
Names of the victims were not released. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
