OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh held a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house on Friday to celebrate the completion of Phase 2 of its $16 million expansion.
In the first phase of the five-part project — which broke ground last October and will double the size of the Club — classroom space was expanded in the Radford Center side of the building to offer school programming to more children.
“With these three new classroom spaces, we’re able to serve 40 more elementary kids every day,” said Tracy Ogden, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh.
Part two renovated all three of the Club’s levels and added two classrooms in the building leased by Head Start.
The expansion has been supported and financed by numerous community partners, leaders and contractors.
“We appreciate so much the time, commitment and caring that you give to make Oshkosh a better place for our young children,” said John Bergstrom, CEO of Bergstrom Automotive — the company in which the Club’s new learning center is named after.
As the Club’s expansion continues, further additions and renovations include a(n):
- Community center
- Second-floor teen space separate from the elementary and middle school age children
- New administrative wing
- New program space for middle school age children
- Second gym
- New outdoor space including a new playground, a courtyard, and an all-purpose field
The project is slated to be complete at the end of 2024.
