GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — The Wisconsin Bike Fed is offering Cycling Without Age (CWA) community introductions and pilot training in Green Bay.
Cycling Without Age is an international program that aims to reduce loneliness and isolation while providing the feeling of riding a bicycle for those who are unable to pedal on their own.
The program utilizes a trishaw – a three-wheeled, pedal-assist electric bicycle – that accommodates one or two passengers riding in the front while a volunteer pilot pedals from the back.
The Wisconsin Bike Fed’s CWA team will be visiting the Brown County Aging and Disability Resource Center on Wednesday from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. to help community members, local organizations, skilled nursing homes, assisted living residences, and ADRCs learn more about Cycling Without Age programs.
There will be a brief presentation, Q & A, and the opportunity to experience a short trishaw ride as a passenger.
The Brown County ADRC will host pilot training on Monday, September 11 from 3-7 p.m. Pilot training will include classroom and hands-on instruction for trishaw operation, rules of the road, best practices for interactions with passengers, and Q & A.
