GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — More than five years after Foxconn announced it would create an “innovation center” in downtown Green Bay, the company never opened any offices there, and has placed the WaterMark building up for sale.
Foxconn is a Taiwan-based technology company. It announced plans for a $10 billion facility in Racine County, which have since been scaled back, as well as planned operations for Green Bay, Madison, and Eau Claire. In June 2018, Foxconn said it would bring 200 jobs to downtown Green Bay.
Five years later, however, the company confirms it has put the building up for sale.
In a statement, the company said:
With ongoing business activities taking place within Foxconn’s Science and Technology Park in Mount Pleasant WI, Foxconn is concentrating its focus on the Park. We anticipate a successful transaction of the WaterMark property will add the vibrancy of Green Bay’s downtown community.
Green Bay Mayor Eric Genrich posted a statement about the potential sale on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter: “This is a great property downtown. Hoping this potential transfer in ownership will lead to better utilization of a fantastic waterfront building.”
The WaterMark building is a six-story, 75,000-square-foot building that was once home to Prange’s and Younkers department stores. It now has several tenants, including Broken Spoke Bike Studio, Creamery Downtown, and engineering consultant ISG.
According to the listing on LoopNet, the building at 115 Pine Street is for sale with an asking price of $9.75 million, including the 167-stall parking ramp connected to the building.
Although that listing says “100% leased,” another listing says there are spaces available on several floors.
