APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A new exhibit in Appleton marches to the beat of its own drums.
The Building for Kids held a grand-opening for its ‘Follow the Beat to East Asia’ exhibit Wednesday.
The exhibit features authentic drums and other percussion instruments in Chinese, Japanese, and Korean cultures. Kids can tap out a beat on a taiko drum, show off their K-pop dance moves, play a tune with chimes and gongs, and more.
Building for Kids executive director, Oliver Zornow, says Appleton was one of four cities across the country to host this exhibit.
“It’s a great opportunity for kids to explore those musical cultures as well as build connections with local organizations. Today we have the Northeast Wisconsin Chinese Association here sharing Chinese culture and music and other partnerships will happen throughout the year while the exhibit is open,” he said.
The exhibit will be on display through next summer.
