COMBINED LOCKS, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The name of the 9-year-old girl killed when crossing a street in Combined Locks Friday night has been released.
Mackenzie Van Eperen was hit by a semi-tractor in the intersection of S. Washington Street and Wallace Street shortly after 3 p.m., according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
The girl was transported to a local hospital where she died from her injuries, according to the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office.
The DOT says no enforcement action has been taken against the driver of the semi, 59-year-old Brian Du Frane of Kaukauna.
The sheriff’s office has said the driver stayed on the scene and was cooperative with investigators.
Initial witness interviews, as well as security camera footage, suggest that speed was not a factor in the crash.
The S. Washington Street and Wallace Street intersection were closed for roughly four hours Friday, as law enforcement collected evidence and reconstructed the crash.
