GREENVILLE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Even before the NFL officially released its 2023 schedule, Appleton International Airport was making moves with the leaked schedule.
With the Green Bay Packers playing in Las Vegas on a Monday night, ATW saw an opportunity.
Normally, Allegiant only offers two flights from Appleton to Vegas each week: Thursday and Sunday — not ideal for a Monday game.
To accommodate Packers fans looking to make a trip to the neon city, Allegiant added two flights for the Oct. 9 game. Now, fans will have a Saturday and Tuesday flight to choose from too.
“Allegiant recognizes the demand, so they know Packers fans travel,” explained ATW Public Information Officer Jessie Funk. “Obviously, Las Vegas is the headquarters for Allegiant, so they know there’s more to do than just the Packer game out there, and, you know, they anticipate those flights being full.”
The flights were added around 4 p.m. Thursday — three hours before the NFL schedule became official — and fans began snagging seats right away, according to Funk.
