ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Part of a Northeast Wisconsin Army Reserve unit is headed overseas.
Approximately 30 soldiers from the 432nd Civil Affairs Battalion in Green Bay will deploy to Eastern Europe in support of Operation European Assure, Deter, and Reinforce.
The battalion will be commanded by Major Nicholas A. Berger of Sherwood.
Officials say the 432nd has been training and preparing for this year-long deployment since the summer of 2022.
The soldiers will be leaving Green Bay next week for additional training in the U.S. before heading to Eastern Europe.
The unit will support U.S. Army V Corps, demonstrating commitment to NATO allies and partners.
The 432nd’s previous deployments include Eastern Europe in 2020 and 2017, Afghanistan in 2011, Iraq in 2008 and 2003, Kosovo in 2000, Bosnia in 1995, and Kuwait in 1991.
