GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — A popular ballroom dancing event is returning to the Green Bay area with a new twist. “NEW Dancing with Our Stars” kicked off its inaugural campaign Wednesday morning. Eight participants, each supporting a different local non-profit organization, were introduced:
Pete Angilello – The Canary Fund
Ken Corry – Old Glory Honor Flight
Kelly Gusloff – CASA of Brown County
Cora Haltaufderheid – Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity
David Konshak – myTeam Triumph
Kristy Maney – Family Services of Northeast Wisconsin
Mandy Schroeder – GBASO
Jenny Vander Zanden – House of Hope
NEW Dancing with Our Stars follows in the footsteps of a similar event for the American Red Cross of Northeast Wisconsin. That event, which raised more than $3 million during its ten-year run, held its final show in February of 2018.
Although dancing is a core component of the event, NEW Dancing with Our Stars creator, Shawn Kiser, says that it’s about much more…
“The focus is on the fundraising because that’s what it’s all about.” said Kiser. “The person who raises the highest amount will also get the coveted mirror ball trophy.”
The participants will spend the next several months fundraising for their chosen charities as well as learning one ballroom dance which they will perform at a showcase Saturday, October 7, 2023, at EPIC Event Center in Green Bay. Each participant will be paired up with an instructor from either Studio 303, Ballroom by Jay, and Green Bay Ballroom.
