BROWN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Twelve dogs and nine cats are being cared for by the Wisconsin Humane Society after the animals were rescued from a Brown County property Wednesday morning.
The WHS Green Bay Campus removed the 21 animals as part of a large-scale surrender situation.
The organization says the dogs were all housed together in pens and will require extensive grooming and medical care.
The cats are afraid and nervous around humans, according to WHS.
As the animals’ care plans are determined, the organization will be placing eligible animals into its foster program while others remain at the shelter.
To offset the costs of the animals’ food, veterinary expenses, grooming, supplies and care, WHS is asking for donations.
WHS says that anyone struggling to care for animals should reach out to their local animal welfare organization, law enforcement or health department for help.
