WRIGHTSTOWN, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A bean bag tournament at Wrightstown High School wrapped up on Wednesday.
Students of the Sources of Strength group held a pep rally which included the final game in its March Madness Bean Bag Tournament.
The Sources of Strength is a student-led group that comes up with positive activities to increase health and wellness.
Lisa Van Dyke, a health and physician education teacher, says she loves the ideas the students come up with.
“A couple years ago, we had some kids come to us and say we want to do something. They were noticing a shift in mental health and culture of the building, so we decided that Sources of Strength was the program to pursue, and it’s been the best decision.”
Forty-two student and faculty teams paid $4 per team or donated a paper product to play in the NCAA-style bracket tournament.
Proceeds and donations will be given to the St. John Homeless Shelter in Green Bay.
In addition, students demonstrated their robotics skills during the pep rally as well as worked together to create a new mural for the cafeteria wall.
The mural will feature the quote, “Fill Up On Your Strengths” near a monster truck filling up at a gas tank of strengths before it has to climb up the hill of challenges.
Students wrote what or who they rely on before they tackle an obstacle or challenge.
