OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A person shot by an Oshkosh police officer last week after allegedly driving toward law enforcement, has been released from the hospital and is in custody.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is investigating the officer-involved shooting that happened during the early morning hours of March 17.
Investigators say officers were responding to a threats complaint in the Farmers Market parking lot on N. Main Street.
Police say when they made contact with a person of interest, that individual drove their vehicle at officers, prompting one of the officers to fire a gun.
The person of interest was taken to the hospital and has since been discharged and taken into custody for a parole violation warrant that was issued before March 17, DCI says.
No law enforcement officers were injured in the incident and the involved officers have been placed on administrative leave.
DCI says it will not be releasing the names of officers involved or the person of interest, due to victim rights obligations.
