DEER CREEK, WI (WTAQ0WLUK)– One person is dead after a two vehicle crash that happened on the evening of Friday, February 24. The Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office reports that they were dispatched to the crash around 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of County TK D and Schweitzer Road in the Town of Deer Creek.
The initial investigation of the crash revealed a pickup truck driven by a 41-year-old man from Bear Creek was traveling east on Schweitzer Road approaching County TK D, while at the same time, another pickup truck driven by a 45-year-old man from Bear Creek was traveling north on County TK D. The driver of the eastbound truck failed to yield the right-of-way to the northbound pickup truck and was struck.
The driver of the northbound truck died on the scene. The driver of the eastbound truck sustained minor injuries.
The intersection was closed for several hours but has since reopened. At this time, alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, but an investigation remains ongoing.
