GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — The Green Bay Police Department reports that there were fewer shots fired cases in the City of Green Bay for 2022 compared to 2021.
Crime analysts tracked a 25.6% decrease in these cases. In 2022, there were 61 recorded cases verses 82 cases for 2021, when officers responded to a high volume of calls in the fourth quarter.
Green Bay Police Chief, Chris Davis, says technology like flock safety cameras have helped with stopping crime.
“It puts people on notice that somebody is paying attention,” said Davis. “But also when something bad does happen, it makes it much quicker for us to solve the case.”
Additionally, in 2022 the Green Bay Police Department has implemented license plate readers, started a neighborhood response team that connects at-risk community members with resources, developed a gun violence stakeholder group, and more.
