KIEL, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A lawsuit has been brought against the Kiel School District over what a family calls a “racially hostile environment” at the district. The civil rights suit was filed today (THURS) in federal court.
Amy and Dan Wempner filed the suit last week on behalf of their son, who is African-American, alleging their son has been racially bullied by other students at the district.
The suit describes specifics of multiple incidents it considers to be examples of the racial bullying.

Eventually, the student transferred to Fond du Lac High School because of the continued harassment. The suit asks for unspecified amount of damages.
