PULASKI, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Christmas day NFL special between the Green Bay Packers and the Cleveland Browns will have a unique local twist.
Polka in Pulaski will be making its way to the big screen during the Packers’ Christmas game versus the Cleveland Browns. FOX Sports chose to highlight this piece of Wisconsin culture ahead of the game.
“We were selected by FOX Sports to do the Christmas show between the Packers and Cleveland Browns game,” said Gene Maroszek.
Gene is part of The Maroszek Brothers Polka band. FOX network says the idea started last year during the Christmas game in New Orleans, where they featured another local band. So it decided to stick with the idea for a second year in a row and feature the Maroszek brothers.
“That is one heck of a– we feel really important,” said Gene.
The production company started set up early in the ballroom at Scolly’s Hometown, bringing in cameras and Christmas décor. A production like this is one the owners never expected.
“Everybody knows everybody here, so it’s awesome to have somebody from our hometown have something like this,” said owner Holly Karcz.
The show will also feature some Pulaski-area Packers fans who came out to watch the production, making watching the Packers game a priority on Christmas Day, if it wasn’t already.
“I’m a big Packers fan. I wanna watch the game. I don’t want distractions around me, but I will watch this,” said Colleen Marcks.
“Our families all getting together by my sister’s house, and we’re gonna be watching this,” said Gene.
Clips of the Maroszek brothers’ performance and crowd will air during the pregame and halftime show.
