OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ) – A social media post with a vague threat against “West High School” seems to have been targeted at the school in Madison, rather than Oshkosh.
Oshkosh Police report that officers learned of the Snapchat post that was spreading among students in Oshkosh on Tuesday morning. The threat didn’t specify a location.
“We do take these threatening posts very seriously, and the safety of our students is of utmost importance,” said Oshkosh Police Information Officer, Kate Mann. “At this time, we believe there are no threats to Oshkosh West High School. We encourage people not to share or repost these types of posts, but instead to contact law enforcement right away if they see this type of threat on social media.”
Shortly after Oshkosh officers were notified of the message, they learned that Madison Police had been investigating the same message.
“The Madison Police Department had also received this information on Monday. After further investigation, we have reason to believe that the threats were targeted at the West High School that’s located in Madison, Wisconsin,” Mann told WTAQ News.
